It Takes All Types: Applying Your Strengths in the Workplace - February 20, 2007
Have you ever wondered why some people just rub you the wrong way? Have misunderstandings created workplace conflict? Do you wonder why stress management strategies that work for others do not work for you?
We can help you answer these questions and more. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) is the most widely used psychological type instrument in the world. People who complete the instrument gain valuable insights about their type-based strengths and challenges. They also learn about and see the value in the perspectives of those with type-based differences.
Type knowledge offers insights and benefits that directly relate to job functioning. Here are some of the applications:
- Interpersonal communication enhancement.
- Conflict management and resolution techniques.
- Stress strategies.
- Team building tools.
- Career development ideas.
- Family and career relationship building through a greater understanding of and appreciation for your own and others’ unique type-based strengths.
How, specifically, have my clients used this information?
- People who construct teams plan for diversity by mixing types on teams. This leads to greater creativity and superior problem solving.
- Type knowledge confirmed for a senior executive her strength in managing daily operations. This helped her avoid a position that would have taken her out of this arena.
- Members of a board of directors used this information to build a more cohesive team. They also determined what sorts of projects best fit each member’s type-based strengths.
Does type exploration sound like a good match for your work group?
I can administer, score, and prepare customized individual reports for your workforce. After people complete the MBTI®, we hold a half-day session designed to explain the results and the opportunities those results present. Subsequent sessions can focus on specific type applications in such areas as conflict resolution and stress management.
